The Powder Group recently interviewed CMC MAKEUP SCHOOL to be included in their OMM (On Makeup Magazine)  FEATURE Where to Learn Now. OMM is one of the most widely distributed makeup magazines and is given to every attendee at The Makeup Show in New York, Chicago and Dallas, as well as TPG Pro member, top studios, agencies, and beauty editors across the country!!



When was your school founded, and by whom? CMC Makeup School was founded in 2008 in Orange County, California by a collective team of Hollywood makeup artists and entrepreneurs in the beauty industry. Since then it’s directors, Christopher Luciano & Alyssa Skyes, have run the school in collaboration with numerous established and talented artists.

By applying a wealth of experience and by employing real-time industry information, CMC achieves it’s commitment to provide students with the very best preparation for their future employment as a working makeup artist. CMC closely follows the latest products, trends and techniques to ensure that course graduates are up to date on all aspects of their chosen career.

Number of Locations? CMC Makeup School currently holds classes & workshops in three Texas locations, Dallas, Houston & Austin. The Dallas studio also houses a CMC Makeup PRO Store for students.

How many classes are offered per year? How many students per class? Classes are held 5-6 times a year at each location; class size is kept at 10-12 students.

What type programs do offer? HD Makeup training in: Beauty, Glamour, Bridal, Event, TV, Film, Runway, Editorial, Period Makeup, FX, Body Art painting, Face Art and Hair Styling for Freelance Makeup Artists. Classes are also offered in SPANISH at the Dallas & Houston locations.

How long are your programs? Do you offer short or continuing education programs? CMC’s Fast-Track Programs are held in 2, 4, 5, 8 or 10 day periods. One-day specialty workshops are also offered.

What are costs of programs & makeup kits? Course tuitions range from $999 to $4499. Participants in all programs receive a full makeup kit.

Is job placement/career assistance offered post-graduation?  During each course, considerable emphasis is placed on preparing artists for the marketing and career side of work as a freelance artist.  We supply in-depth information on get started in the industry, and follow up by staying in contact with students post-graduation in order to answer questions and provide advice as needed.

What’s next for the school? More in depth Special Effects workshops, Body and Face Art classes will be expanded, Fashion and Editorial Hair classes, as well as guest speakers and PRO Makeup Store expansion.

Does your school include guest teachers in the curriculum, and who are they? Eric Zapata and Heather Henry currently pilot the FX and Body and Face Art painting workshops. Both of these terrific  artists have participated in a number of film productions and TV shows, and have been FACE OFF contestants. Throughout 2014, our programs will include more extensive workshops with them.

What are the certifications or licensing provided upon graduation? Students receive a certificate of completion for each class taken, which enhances their portfolio, prepares them for employment & makes them eligible for various professional makeup artist discounts & memberships.

What are your standards & criteria for graduation? Students will receive their certificate upon completion of the course. Our goal is to prepare each graduate to put what they learn to use as soon as after they graduate as possible.
