I am a beginner with no previous experience. Would I be able to take these classes?  Our efficiently designed short courses are made for beginners & free lance self taught makeup artists alike. These classes start with the fundamentals of makeup & will teach you the most important techniques that we know you will use over & over. They are a great way to start from scratch, or diversify your existing skills & gain the confidence in makeup needed.

Do you offer financial aid?   We do not currently offer financial aid and due to being fast track courses and the amount of take home product you receive from day 1. The tuition does have to be paid in full by the first day of class. However, if you have a Pay Pal account, there is a good chance you can use ‘Bill me Later’ for financing. Bill me later is being offered currently to 80% of Pay Pal customers. Call your Pay Pal account to see if you would qualify or follow the prompts for your deposit & it will pop up as an option. https://www.billmelater.com/index.xhtml   – Alternatively, you can also apply for a personal loan with your bank.

After my deposit is paid, when is the balance due?  To hold your seat you must put down a deposit, which is taken out of the total class price. The balance is then due the first day of class. CMC accepts certified checks, Visa, Master Card, Discover, American Express or cash.

Can I get a class discount if I bring my own makeup?  For the sake of unity & flow in completing CMC’s tightly planned curriculums, we do not allow separate makeup kits in the classes.

What type of Makeup is used in the kits?  A variety of makeup is used in your class kits and include products from: Mehron | Graftobian | Makeup Forever | TEMPTU PRO | RCMA | Ingot | NYX and other variety as well. Kits may vary slightly from class to class depending on seasonal color palettes, items in stock etc..

Can I get a M.A.C PRO card, Make Up For Ever backstage card and discounts after attending your courses?  In class we will go over the application and how each company is different,  but yes as a professional artist you qualify for discounts.

Are CMC Schools state Certified Cosmetology Schools?   No, CMC Makeup School is not a cosmetology school and focuses exclusively on makeup education for Freelance Artistry as well as portfolio development & career education. All instructors are professional Makeup Artists with years in the industry, who bring their knowledge & experience to the classroom & curriculum. Students receive a certificate of completion for each class taken, which enhances their portfolio, prepares them for jobs & makes them eligible for certain professional makeup artist discounts & memberships. However, there is no standard licensing regulation for make-up artists, so students will still need to communicate with their respective state authority for information on business licensing if they wish to offer more than freelance Makeup Artistry in the Beauty industry.

How long has CMC been in business?   CMC originated in California 9 years ago, but has since moved to Texas with classes taught in Dallas, Houston, and San Marcos for students from Austin and San Antonio, as well.  The team that makes up CMC’s Instructors are all professional working freelance makeup artists including guest Celebrity Makeup Masters, with many years of experience & knowledge in both makeup application as well as the how to’s of running successful careers. They bring current industry knowledge in the fields of Beauty and Fashion makeup application into the classroom.

When is the next class?  Please refer to our “Calendar” tab & choose your location. Each class consists of in-depth lectures, demonstrations and hands-on makeup applications. Other vital self marketing strategies are taught to ensure success in your chosen field of makeup. 

Do I get a diploma or a certificate?  CMC Makeup School offers Certificate Classes. Upon successful completion, graduates receive a Certificate of completion for each type of makeup covered.

Are there any additional fee’s added to the class?   No

Is my deposit refundable?   Please let us know as soon as possible if you will NOT be able to attend the classes you reserved. If you need to cancel your class and let us know 2 weeks before your class start date, then we will be able to refund your deposit, minus $75 cancelation fee. If you do not let us know 2 weeks before, or do not show up on class start dates, then your deposit will be non refundable. 

What are class hours?  Most class days are held from 9am to 5pm. Please contact us for specific dates and availability as they change per month.

What items or products do I need to bring to class?   It is very important to us that you come bringing a big smile! Other then that, everything else you need for the course will be provided with your kits. Some days do require model volunteers if you are doing a photoshoot!

How often do you need to have a friend /model to work on? Model volunteers are helpful and some days they are very necessary. (Such as Body painting, Special FX & photoshoots)But for all other classes if you can not find a model, don’t panic! We all work together once class begins. Taking turns allows you to feel the other end of the brush, and see how your future clients might feel and what could help them be more comfortable. We also send you additional information in your confirmation email on how to post for online volunteers. 

How much will the Airbrush compressor be?  The TEMPTU Airbrush compressor is now included in the kits you receive on Airbrush day! No additional fees will be added.

Are there daily parking fees?  No, parking is free!

Do you have a breakdown per day?   Although we cannot give out our exact curriculum, there is a very good course outline of each program on their perspective pages. Once you reserve your seat for a specific class you will receive an email from CMC with your daily class outline! You are also more then welcome to call us for a clear explanation of what each class teaches and includes.

What kind of work can I get with this certificate? What kind of jobs are available? There are various opportunities for a career in Makeup. Here are some ideas for a working Makeup Artist:   Weddings / Modeling Agencies / Quinceneras / Private Clients / Local City Events / Salons and spas / Retail / M.A.C. Cosmetics / Prom Nights / Advertisements / Magazines / Movies / Music videos / Runway shows / Television / Theater / Award Dinners / Broadway Shows / Entertainment shows / Circus Teams / Theme Parks, Face painting, children’s parties, celebrations and much more..
Our School is designed to fulfill a need for dedicated, qualified professional artists. Many million dollar industries utilize Makeup Artist. You can work with Photographers, Models, Designers and Magazines. Opportunities can also be found in the Film/TV industry, Stage, Music Videos and more. There are plenty of people who need makeup services.

What kind of money can I earn in Makeup?  Depending on which industry you select there are industry averages. The lowest income averages between $12 -$20 per hour. Most Television & Video work is based on “day rates”, which averages between $250 -$500 per day. Film work averages between $400 – $850 per day. The Print & Fashion industry is known to pay best, clients have different budgets but a top artist can make as much as $3,500 a day or more.  We strongly encourage you upon graduation to treat Makeup Artistry as a job that is worth your time daily. You have to network, build your portfolio and experiences even though some days my not pay as much as others.  You never know who you will meet that could lead you to your next job and opportunity, so always bring your best and show professionalism.  A great book to read by a famous Makeup Artist is: “I Can Do This” by Bobbie Weiner, a.k.a. “Bloody Mary”

How soon can I start?  Because we try to keep our class sizes small ( 6-8 students per class ), we encourage students to enroll in advance to ensure their seat. We can not hold a seat without a deposit, so we do suggest you register early. If an upcoming class is marked “Closed” you can always contact us to get on the waiting list for those dates should a student need to reschedule.
